And every time a new hero is released, it rains more money on the game. Next up is an even larger update, supposedly coming in December, which will add even more story and open up a new section of the map for the first time. It has already released five new heroes in two months and a large 1.1 Update with significant new story quests. Genshin Impact shows no signs of slowing down. There’s no paying to access any of that, so there’s plenty to do even if you may have a “weaker” team by not spending tons of money for the best heroes and to get them to the highest levels. And the “meat” of the game, the world and the story quests, is all free.

Combat and the elemental interaction system is fantastic. The story…slightly confusing but actually pretty good if you follow it. The world is gorgeous, the characters lively and memorable. It makes for a fun challenge and one that will definitely have you wishing you explored every nook and cranny of the game’s giant world.And yet, you don’t win Game of the Year awards for being profitable and Genshin Impact also has the good fortune of actually being…a great game. Still, Genshin Impact has three sprawling regions: Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma, and that’s on top of special areas like The Chasm and Dragonspine. Of course, the open world of Teyvat is nowhere near the size of the actual planet, so it’s not quite as tough. The Genshin Impact version functions just like the original GeoGuessr except it substitutes real-world locations with spots throughout Teyvat. For example, if the store signs are in a certain language, or you can see a specific element of geography (like a well-known chain of mountains), you can piece together where on the planet the game placed you. In the original GeoGuessr, you guess your location using Google Street View, often by trying to identify famous landmarks. You can play it for free in your internet browser.

GeoGuessr has been online since 2013, and now, SirFelpudo has recreated the concept to allow people to explore the fictional world of Teyvat from Genshin Impact.
